Over two decades of special at our Saks hair salon in Yarm and if you’re seeking an award-winning boutique-style salon you’ll love this salon in Stockton-on-Tees. Longstanding salon owner Jane Myers joined Saks at 16 and honed her hairdressing skills over the years in our Saks salons around the north east. Today, Jane lives and breathes Saks and loves making women look and feel special. Also, countless Teesside hairdressers have been trained and mentored by Jane, going on to have amazing hair careers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become a Hairdressing Advanced Apprentice in Saks, a stylish contemporary salon located in Yarm.

What will the apprentice be doing?

Advanced Apprentice required to work in a busy salon. This position will gain you valuable industry experience while you also receive Level 3 training from Saks Apprenticeships.

You will advance your technical skills and knowledge in consultation, creative cut and colour, corrective colour and artistic hairdressing design skills including styling, dressing and finishing techniques.

Full training will be given by Saks Apprenticeships, which will lead to gaining Level 3 Diploma in Hairdressing.

Daily duties will include:

·       Assisting with the daily running of the salon such as meeting and greeting clients, reception duties

·       Carrying out skills and techniques gained in Level 2 qualification

·       Assisting qualified stylists in creative cuts/colours to gain skills as a Level 3 Hairdressing Apprentice

The programme is ideal if you want to enhance your technical skills and take on more responsibility at work.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Training to be provided in salon and Level 3 training in Hairdressing delivered on site by Saks Apprenticeships.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

After you have completed your Level 3 Diploma in Advanced and Creative Hairdressing you will have reached the pinnacle of hairdressing apprenticeships and are able to become a State Registered Hairdresser (SRH) with The Hairdressing Council. However, there are still more skills you can learn to help you develop within the Hair and Beauty industry.

You will be able to develop your skills further by advancing onto one of our other apprenticeships each of which will allow you to increase your knowledge add to your skill set and become ever more valuable to your salon.

Things to consider

The National Minimum Wage (NMW) for Apprentices applies to 16-18 year old Apprentices and those aged 19 and over in the first year of their Apprenticeship. As an apprentice you are required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week and receive a minimum of 20% of your working hours in off the job training. Once you have successfully completed the program you will be submitted for your End Point Assessment. The EPA is an assessment of all the knowledge, skills and behaviours you have learned throughout your apprenticeship, it confirms you are ready and competent in the career path you have chosen. These assessments have been designed and developed, by employers in the hairdressing industry, to reflect the daily work of a hairdresser. This makes them very sought after by employers across the industry.
