Brief overview of the role
VJH Joinery are looking to appoint an enthusiastic individual to learn the Joinery trade on residential and new build projects. You will be mentored by an experienced Joiner to help you to continue to learn new skills. In this role, you will be completing first, second and final fix joinery. You will be carrying out various tasks from replacing internal doors to assisting with staircases, plus more.
What will the apprentice be doing?
Some of the tasks you will be completing include:
- Train in all aspects of joinery including health & safety, site rules and regulations across the North East
- Working on residential and new build properties to learn first, second and final fix joinery
- Installation of door and window frames
- Laying wooden floors
- Fitting skirting boards and architrave
- Fitting doors, kitchens, staircases, etc
- Roofing work to be completed
- Use of relevant tools and PPE as required
- Measuring, sourcing and cutting the relevant materials
- Maintain a clear and tidy workspace and ensure that waste materials are disposed of in accordance with current legislation
- Carrying out maintenance
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Level 2 Carpentry & Joinery Apprenticeship Standard – at Stockton Riverside College
- Functional skills Maths & English, if required
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- An opportunity for a full-time position at the end of the apprenticeship
Working week
37.50 Hours, Monday to Friday, hours to be confirmed.
