Job Description

Brief overview of the role

An Apprentice Nursery Assistant is required to work within one of our busy Nursery Settings caring for children aged 6 weeks – 11 years. This role includes the ability to care for and meet the individual needs of all children, including all aspects of feeding, personal care and educational development following the Early Years Foundation Stage.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • The successful candidate will become involved in all aspects of the nursery ensuring that they have the ability to be flexible and work within all age ranges of the setting
  • The candidate would be expected to be involved in supporting staff with planning and developmental records to ensure they are kept updated in line with our policies and procedures
  • To implement and promote all policies and the Staff Rules
  • To have an understanding of children’s development, their needs and the provision of positive play
  • To care for and supervise the group of children assigned to them
  • To ensure their safety at all times
  • To create an interesting and stimulating environment for the child to develop all their skills
  • To provide support for any children with special needs and to liaise with senior members of staff to promote their welfare and development
  • To ensure positive management of children’s behaviour
  • To carry out housekeeping duties as appropriate
  • To ensure the ethos, implementation and legal requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • To support a commitment to the theory and practice of equal opportunities

You will be expected to complete other duties as your training progresses.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard at Redcar & Cleveland College
  • Functional skills maths & English, if required

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • An opportunity for a full-time position at the end of the apprenticeship

Working week

30 hours, Monday – Friday, working between the hours of 7.30am – 6.00pm.
