JOB DESCRIPTION – BID WRITER
Newcastle or Teesside office based, with occasional travel to client sites, pre-bid meetings, or industry events Role Purpose: The Bid wrier will lead ACEDA’s bid and tender process from opportunity identification through to submission and post-bid review.
This role will be responsible for ensuring all bids are professionally prepared, fully compliant, and commercially competitive, while maximising win rates and supporting the company’s strategic growth objectives. The Bid Writer will work closely with the CRO, estimators, operations, and subject matter experts to produce high-quality submissions that reflect ACEDA’s capabilities, brand, and value proposition.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities are to:
Bid & Tender Management:
Oversea the end-to-end bid process, ensuring all submissions are delivered on time and meet the client’s requirements.
- Analyse tender documentation, identifying compliance requirements, key deliverables, and evaluation criteria.
- Coordinate inputs from estimators, technical leads, account directors, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare bid schedules and allocate responsibilities to ensure deadlines are met.
Content Development & Quality:
Write and edit high-quality bid responses, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with ACEDA’s brand tone and messaging.
- Maintain and update a library of standard bid content, case studies, and CVs.
- Tailor proposals to reflect the client’s needs, win themes, and differentiators.
- Ensure submissions are free from errors, professionally formatted, and fully compliant.
Opportunity Identification & Pipeline Support:
- Work with the CRO to proactively identify upcoming tender opportunities in ACEDA’s target markets.
- Maintain an active register of tenders, framework opportunities, and bid deadlines.
- Support pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs) and supplier onboarding processes.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
- Liaise with internal teams to gather accurate technical, operational, and commercial information.
- Coordinate bid review meetings with operations and senior leadership.
- Build relationships with key industry partners for collaborative or joint bids where beneficial.
Post-Bid Review & Continuous Improvement:
- Lead post-bid reviews to capture lessons learned, win/loss analysis, and feedback from evaluators.
- Monitor and report on bid success rates and identify trends.
- Implement improvements to processes, templates, and content based on lessons learned.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Tender win rate (%) and value secured
- Timeliness of bid submissions (% submitted on time)
- Compliance score (based on client evaluations)
- Quality rating of submissions (internal and external feedback)
- Contribution to revenue through successful bids
- Growth of bid library and quality of reusable content
