Job description

Do you consider yourself to be an analytical person, with a keen eye for details?

Are you forward thinking and enjoy the challenge of applying your skills to problem solve?

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working collaboratively to be involved large scale government projects. If this sounds like you then please apply! We look forward to hearing from you!

The Business Investment Directorate’s Grant Delivery Team helps deliver major business grant and funding programmes, focused on economic shocks and leading Britain’s recovery. During Covid 19 the team were responsible for working with over 300 Local Authorities to deliver 14 grant schemes worth £27bn to local businesses.

This role is an exciting opportunity where you can work on another high-profile initiative, supporting the £12bn Energy Bills Support Scheme which will provide all domestic electricity customers with a grant to help with their bills. This is part of a £37bn support package announced by Government to meet the rising cost of living.

The Data Analysis and Reporting Team is responsible for data collection and reporting key information about the schemes. We also support highly important work evaluating the effectiveness of the interventions. During Covid, we worked with BEIS Digital to develop an innovative data management system that is now being used more widely across government on other large scale delivery programmes, and which we have showcased further.

We are seeking an analyst to support and develop the data collection, reporting and visualisation function critical to the team’s success. You will also be expected to work flexibly across the wider team to meet business priorities.

The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate the collection of delivery monitoring data and building of reporting dashboards and visualisations to demonstrate the progress of funding delivery. You will present these to internal and external stakeholders, including senior staff. You will also work with colleagues across professional boundaries to maximise opportunities with the new BEIS Digital Platform, and to lead on exploiting these data sources to answer key analytical and policy questions, inform future policy design and support programme evaluation.

This role will involve:

•          Developing a comprehensive and robust data collection and analysis service through a deep understanding of the Energy Bills Support Scheme’s needs and objectives.

•          Reporting on progress, raising issues in a timely manner, and communicating analytical findings to senior officials inside and outside the department.

•          Analysing and interpreting data to provide robust evidence-based recommendations, making reasonable conclusions and presenting results in innovative and compelling ways.

•          Identifying and addressing issues in processes, systems, and methods where they arise, and realising opportunities for automation and innovation to ensure continuous improvement.

Skills and Experience

We would love to hear from you if you have:

•          An understanding of relevant analytical techniques, such as data management and statistical modelling.
