Job description

The Portfolio and Affordability directorate is looking to fill the Finance Manager HEO role. This is a brilliant opportunity to be involved in supporting the Government’s Net Zero agenda and the transition towards Net Zero of some of the more traditional energy industries.  We are a friendly team and welcome flexible working patterns. The post is suitable for an apprentice that has an interest in finance management and would like to progress their career in finance.

Responsibilities

The post holder will provide forecasting, monthly accruals, advice and support on a range of daily Financial management activities. The role requires collaborative working to produce timely, accurate and in-year reporting for the directorates.

The team is responsible for the directorate financial management, in-year reporting and transactional processing activities. This includes financial management of annual business planning, budget allocation, cash forecasting and monthly forecasting against budgets and provision of general finance advice. The team support and engage monthly with FBPs on forecasting, quarterly reviews, risks, opps and financial management activities.

• Support the Finance lead with the delivery of the annual budgeting setting, allocation and detailed profiling of budgets

•          Ensure the smooth coordination and reporting of the monthly forecasting against budget holders spendings

•          Support the Finance lead to ensure financial data are accurate through reviewing of periodic postings, transaction listings, management of monthly accruals and journal corrections.

•          Mange the collection and recording of financial forecast into the EPM system to support month end reporting

•          Scrutinise monthly transaction listings and posting of monthly journal corrections

•          Support the Finance lead with the scrutiny and financial concurrence within delegated authority

•          Provision of financial support to the workforce team budget and business managers

•          Collection and recording of the quarterly transparency, risks and opps and commitments exercise to support FBP and ExCo with quarterly reporting.

•          Collecting and recording quarterly and year-end information to support the interim and year-end financial account preparation and audits

Skills and Experience

•          Experience of monthly forecasting and accruals process

•          Good understanding of management accounting principles, specifically covering budgetary control

•          Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to defend and explain complex financial issues clearly to a variety of audiences

•          Ability to work under pressure and to tight and often changing deadlines
