Job Description
About the role
To support the delivery of high-quality financial accounting and reporting services for the Authority, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, accounting standards, and internal financial regulations. The postholder will contribute to the preparation of the annual Statement of Accounts, maintenance of balance sheet integrity, and effective operation of financial controls, providing accurate and timely financial information to support good governance and decision-making.
Specific Skills & Qualifications Qualifications
- AAT level or working towards a recognised professional qualification.
- Experience Experience working in a financial accounting role, preferably within local government or the wider public sector.
- Experience contributing to year end closedown and preparation of financial statements.
- Experience of working with financial systems and reconciliations.
- Knowledge of local authority accounting requirements and the CIPFA Code of Practice, or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- High standards of integrity and professionalism Resilient and able to work under pressure during peak reporting periods.
- Committed to public service values and good financial governance. Proactive, reliable, and willing to learn and develop.
