Job Description
About the role
You will lead on the development of the Authority’s medium-term, sustainable financial planning, liaising closely with the Group Director of Finance & Resources and wider Corporate Leadership Team, to ensure this both aligns with and drives the overall strategic vision determined by Cabinet. And lead on the provision of a holistic business partnering function ensuring sound financial management advice is given to Members, the Chief Executive and the wider Corporate Leadership Team to underpin key organisational decision-making.
Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, CIPFA, ICAEW or equivalent). Experience Significant senior-level experience in financial management, within local government or the public sector.
- Proven experience of developing a robust Medium Term Financial Strategy and leading the budget setting process for a local authority or similar organisation
- Strong understanding of public sector financial management and of delivering a business partnering function.
Skills & Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of local authority accounting requirements and the CIPFA Codes of Practice.
- Proficient in manipulating large volumes of complex data and the use of complex, integrated Excel workbooks.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
