Job Description

We are seeking an Instrument Electrical Designer who is a natural communicator, for our client based in a Billingham chemical processing plant. You will be a self-motivated team player who is physically fit, with the ability to work on scaffold platforms and climb vertical ladders.

This is full time office-based role from Monday to Friday, working 08:00 until 16:00 offers some start/finish time flexibility. The contract will start in May and run until at least the end of 2023.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the Records and Design Office Team Leader
  • Providing engineering designs and checking designer’s work
  • Maintaining site records and surveying existing plant
  • Supporting reliable, efficient and safe operations at the plant
  • Providing scopes of work for plant modifications and projects
  • Using AutoCAD to produce multiple engineering drawings, diagrams and box schedules

Qualifications and essential experience:

  • Minimum of HNC or equivalent qualification in electrical/instrumentation engineering
  • Working knowledge of current European regulations especially BS7671
  • Design of MCC switchgear
  • Design of process instrumentation loops ranging from pneumatic to DCS
  • Design of electrical systems ranging from 24VDC up to 415V
  • Design of relay and PLC based control and shutdown logic systems
  • An appreciation of large-scale petrochemical processes
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Computer skills including Word, Excel and Autocad
