What you need to know about the role
As an IT Services Engineer you will work with both internal and external service providers to ensure that all IT services delivered into British Steel meets the associated SLAs of each service. As part of the team that provides 2nd line IT support functions on assigned areas you will also work on or take the leading role on any designated project.
You will provide IT Workplace support for the Northern Mills in the following key areas:
- Network support, fault finding and monitoring.
- Desktop support
- Software deployment
- Basic telephony support (e.g., configuring VOIP Phones)
- Active directory
- Server support legacy servers in our Teesside datacentre (Windows / AIX / Linux)
- Liaising with 3rd party Support providers as required, for example IBM, TCS and ICC
What we need to know about you
We’re looking for a ITIL qualified professional with experience in operating under an ITIL Framework and a wide ranging knowledge of workplace, data centre and network offerings and technologies common within the marketplace.
CCNA certification would be an advantage, as would some experience of installing/configuring switches and other network kit.
Operational delivery skills backed with clear ITIL focused management of processes and resource is critical to this role and demonstration of project management and strategy development skills would be preferred.
You need to be an excellent communicator able to engage with internal customers and stakeholders at all levels.
