We’re growing rapidly and as a result we’re looking for a Lead Texture Artist to join our studio in Middlesbrough (UK), home to the beautiful North Yorkshire coastline and countryside. As a Lead Texture Artist at Double Eleven, you’ll lead the creation of the textures that add depth and dimension to objects, buildings and environments. You’ll need to understand the texturing process along with its technical and artistic constraints to work on a Major Important RTS IP. You’ll be setting schedules, managing other artists and responsible for any required outsourcing within the project; directing, scheduling and implementation of assets.

In this role you will set up camp at our HQ in Middlesbrough. We are continuing to assess the covid-19 situation, and our studio is set-up with the necessary covid-19 support measures to keep our teams safe. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Work directly with other Leads to keep quality and style consistent across all environments and art assets
  • Creating high-quality textures/materials using tools like Substance, Zbrush, Photoshop
  • Develop advanced shaders, optimise assets, create efficient tile-able textures, smart materials in Substance
  • Provide direction and constructive feedback to develop a consistent, quality visual style
  • Fully understand and work around existing art pipelines and all technical constraints
  • Lead the production of art assets required for the project
  • Able to manage, direct and implement any required outsourcing for the project
  • Expert in PBR, lighting, rendering, and material authoring
  • Assisting in the design, implementation, and maintenance of material art pipelines
  • Works with Production to prioritise work and maintain a clear and consistent schedule
  • Review work for quality and carry out various supervisory responsibilities
  • Proactive in finding answers and able to clearly communicate issues and direction to the team
  • Capable of owning development of, and delivering, content while leading by example
  • Upholds a sense of professional ownership, keeps a positive attitude, and ensures tasks are completed to quality
  • Able to manage and mentor career development of 3D Artists at various skill levels

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Shipped at least one title as a Senior or Lead Texture Artist
  • An extensive portfolio of Materials at AAA/realistic quality
  • Experienced in working with outsourcers
  • Expert knowledge in node-based material editors, tiling layered material, shader networks and procedural texturing
  • Strong modelling skills required to support any material based work in Maya, 3DS Max, Blender and/or the equivalent tools
  • Advanced understanding of Photoshop, Substance Designer/Painter, and Zbrush
  • Has a passion for 3D environment art, set dressing, lighting, and texturing
  • Demonstrates excellent foundational skills, including composition, design, structure, silhouette, and colour theory
  • Has an excellent understanding of the environment art pipeline, dependencies, and overall scope of the project
  • Demonstrates an ability to work with detailed concept art or reference art materials
  • Has excellent leadership and mentoring abilities, as well as interpersonal skills
  • Organised and practices good time management skills
  • Finds creative solutions for technically challenging tasks
  • Experienced in managing direct reports
  • Experienced working in an Agile workflow
