Job Description

An excellent opportunity to learn all aspects of Customer Service and Administration within a busy medical practice. At Westbourne Medical Centre you will ensure that the reception area of the Practice runs smoothly and provides a high level of service to patients, doctors, nurses and other members of the Practice team.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Dealing with phone enquires and complaints
  • Collect payments from patients for non-NHS services
  • Greet and direct patients and visitors
  • Secretarial duties
  • Booking appointments
  • Home visit requests
  • Pulling hard copy notes when requested by doctors
  • Filing/Handing out prescriptions
  • Working reception desk
  • Photocopying, shredding
  • Input and extract information from Practice computer
  • General housekeeping (e.g. keeping reception and waiting areas tidy)
  • Any other reasonable duties as necessary

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 2 Customer Service  Practitioner Apprenticeship Standard
  • Training is undertaken with knowledge classes taught face to face, workshops and 1:1’s. Delivery sessions are held weekly, half a day a week
  • Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
