Job Description
Our client, a major UK bulk liquid storage terminal, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Technician to join their maintenance team in Teesside. This is a full-time, permanent role offering the opportunity to work in COMAH-regulated environments, supporting the integrity and reliability of critical mechanical systems.
The role:
- Performing planned and reactive maintenance on rotating equipment including pumps, valves, and seals
- Conducting tank inspections, valve overhauls, and flanged connection work in line with ECITB MJI10/MJI19 standards
- Carrying out slinging, rigging, pressure testing, and mechanical isolations across hazardous areas
- Supporting mechanical fault-finding and ensure compliance with safety management systems
- Assisting with third-party contractor supervision and participate in the on-call rota for emergency support
Mechanical Technician requirements:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or time-served background
- Significant years’ experience within a chemical, process, or hazardous industrial site
- Certified in ECITB MJI10/MJI19 (bolted connections); Mechanical CompEx 11 desirable
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and support safe systems of work
- Strong knowledge of mechanical safety compliance and asset care in a high-hazard environment
