Teesworks Skills Academy is delighted to be working with K2 Construction Management on the recruitment of an experienced experience Planning Manager to join their team. You will be working in Tees Valley working on the prestigious development of the UKs largest monopile manufacturing facility at Teesworks.

The role centres on managing the day-to-day requirements of a large multi-million pound construction and building project.

You will utilise your programme management experience to oversee the coordination of sub-contractors and internal milestone programmes.

The aim is to ensure the efficient delivery of key milestone contract triggers, whilst overseeing programme logistics of the works on this exemplar project.

You will manage a small planning team, to which our client is looking for an individual that can train and inspire, whilst managing the busy day-to-day tasks

General Overview

To manage a team,  plan contracts, schedule resources and materials as directed.

Key Accountabilities

  • Creating, maintaining, and reviewing programmes of work for the project.
  • Liaising with Internal departments and external surveyors, engineers, and architects & Supply chain.
  • Producing progress reports and forecasts for the business, team members, clients, and stakeholders
  • Reviewing & breaking large schemes down into phases of development.
  • Using project management tools to plan timeframes
  • Working with Estimators, Operational & Commercial teams to calculate the resources required for a project.
  • Planning contingency programmes.
  • Advising construction team on short term programmes
  • Meeting with contractors and suppliers
  • Demonstrating knowledge of construction processes and site constraints.
  • Inputting into and Writing bids for tender
  • Managing multiple projects with the support of junior & developing planners
  • Working between offices and construction

Contract Planning

  • Programme contract
  • Recommend process work as necessary
  • Monitor progress
  • Produce short term and recovery plans
  • Develop and implement planning systems
  • Produce critical path and delay programmes for claim preparation where required. Material and supply chain Scheduling
  • Develop Material demand schedule from master programme to allow Schedule/Requisition materials as necessary
  • Develop Subcontract demand schedule from master programme Key Attributes
  • Able to work well with others
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Persistence and determination • Business management skills
  • Able to use a computer and the main software packages competently

Qualifications

  • 5+ years site experience
  • Experience in a Planning Manager role
  • Experience against programming; but not limited to, construction programme, key milestone and contract triggers, commissioning & certification, as well as stakeholder managementBased in the Teesside area (or close to)
  • Construction & civil project experience
  • Degree or HND qualified
  • Valid CSCS card
  • Competent to work alone
  • MS Project experience
  • Just in time (JIT) sequencing

Desirable are:

  • Construction & civil engineering experience on large scale projects
  • Main contractor or client experience
