Post: Police Staff Investigator Level 1 – CID
Salary: Scale 5 / 6 – £29,109 – £34,329
Hours: 37 hours per week (plus 7.5% irregular working allowance and 208 hours Weekend Work Enhancement)

Applications are invited for the post of Police Staff Investigator based within CID, posts are available at Stockton and Middlesbrough.
We are seeking a conscientious, dedicated and inquiring individual to ensure a professional investigative and supportive service is delivered to the community. Duties include interviewing witnesses and complainants using PEACE/PACE interview methods and produce accurate written statements in a form suitable for use as evidence in court proceedings, preparing prosecution case files for offences investigated by CID. The role also involves obtaining any outstanding evidence required in order to prepare the full file to the satisfaction of Prosecuting Counsel and performing other specialist roles in any CID led investigation when required to do so.
The successful candidate will have excellent problem solving, communication and decision making skills. Previous experience as an investigator and successful completion of exhibits and disclosure courses (or equivalent) although not essential, would be desirable and advantageous.
If successful, you will be required to undertake and complete the PSI level 1 course (if not already qualified) and then produce a portfolio of evidence in order for you to achieve the PIP Level 1 status within 6 months of taking up the post.
Accreditation must be maintained via a portfolio of professional development to demonstrate current professional competence.
Police Staff Investigators within CID work a shift pattern, which includes some evenings (up to 10pm) and weekends.

The role of Police Staff Investigator requires that you have your fingerprints and DNA taken and these will be stored on the contamination elimination database. This requirement is written into your contract.
Personal Safety Training is a mandatory requirement for the role so successful applicants will be required to complete this upon appointment.
