Job Description

This role is Monday to Thursday 9 – 5 with 45 lunch, Friday 8 – 2

This position is initially for a 24 month fixed term contract, employed by Teesside University but working day to day with Lionweld.

To develop and embed a product development & innovation infrastructure to develop, design and implement new alternative flooring products using sustainable materials which provide equivalent structural strength with lower energy processing and recyclability 

The appointed candidate will have access to a £4k dedicated training budget tailored towards their personal development, access to leading industry experts and supervision from a leading academic research team from Teesside University including  Dr David Hughes, Dr Gatheeshgar Perampalam and Angela Lawrence.

Qualifications we require:

  • BEng in Mechanical or Civil Engineering

Ideal Candidates will have the following

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Knowledge / experience of design, marketing and research led New Product Development
  • Knowledge / experience of 2D and 3D visualisation including CAD/design software
  • Ability to perform mathematical structural analysis
  • A capacity for originality, independent and strategic thinking.
  • An ability to be flexible and adaptable in a rapidly changing innovative environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to both lead and contribute to team working
  • Good IT skills including MS office, spreadsheet and/or database familiarisation.About Lionweld Kennedy Flooring Ltd:  LK-UK.com

Lionweld has operated (under different names) for over 100 years and has supported the construction sector with the design, manufacture, fabrication and supply of open steel grating, handrails, stair treads and ladders, supplying the same component types in GRP for over 30 years.
