Role Category – the way you’ll work:

This role is categorised as a roam role. Roaming roles are a mixture of home and hub working with, in some instances, a degree of being out and about delivering services to customers. Your working day will be determined by what you need to do and where you need to go to maximise your productivity. This means that you could start and finish your day in different places depending on what you need to do, so we’ll support you working from a variety of locations.

The Quantity Surveying position is an exciting and dynamic opportunity that will require an enthusiastic and driven individual to control and report on the commercial aspect of our investment programme.

Our £120m 4-year investment plan has been agreed and our exciting programme will commence later this year. The successful candidate will be instrumental in helping to commercially steer projects within this investment plan.

You will be allowed to express your creativity regarding this position and inspire the department to manage contractual risks with a commercial outlook. You will work alongside our operational team and the external contracting partners throughout our framework.

The Role:

The Quantity Surveying, who will report directly to the Quantity Surveying manager, will evaluate all levels of commercial risk associated with their allocated projects.

You will ensure that projects are delivered on time and to budget, protecting Thirteens commercial and contractual interests throughout the Partnership Framework. This role will underpin the operational delivery, enhance commercial awareness within the team and deliver a great customer experience along the way.

You will act as a source of professional advice to operational managers, lead the commercial aspect of your allocated schemes, certify payments to contractors, predict final outcomes/cash flows and report on your findings periodically.

The Person:

We are looking for an individual who is commercially focused, degree or HNC qualified that has Quantity Surveying experience, preferably within a housing or commercial background.

To join our team, you must be able to demonstrate commercial awareness and understand legislative requirements and practices within refurbishment, compliance, and social housing sector.

You will assist in mentoring the Trainee Quantity Surveyor who will support you with daily duties.

High levels of interpersonal and negotiation skills are essential, as is the ability to positively engage with delivery team and external partners.

Your experience with traditional forms of contract, large scale capital investment programmes, refurbishment projects, partnering arrangements would also be welcome experiences for this position.

Please note that this role requires a full driving license, as travel to other sites is required
