Job Description
A traineeship is a course with work experience that gets you ready for work or an apprenticeship. It can last up to 12 months.
You can apply if you’re:
- Eligible to work in England
- Unemployed and have little or no work experience
- Aged 16 to 24 and qualified below Level 4
You’ll get:
- A work experience placement
- Help with English and maths (if you need it)
- Aged 16 to 24 and qualified below Level 4
Training to be provided
This Traineeship opportunity includes work preparation training, Functional Skills maths, and English support for those who require it and a high-quality work experience placement.
You will gain work experience and get on the job training to develop in this role and hopefullyprogress on to the Apprenticeship.
You will also do any maths and English if required.
Training will also involve:
- Great customer service
- Manual handling
- Health and safety
- Till work
- Deliveries and merchandising
- Security

Traineeships help prepare young people aged 16 to 24, or 25 with an education, health, and careplan, for employment or an apprenticeship.

Your day to day activities will be variable and may include:
- Answering customers questions
- Selling and taking payments in cash by card etc.
- Bringing in and checking deliveries and prices
- Working on the shop floor – putting out new stock
- Working on the till
- Working as part of a team
The Trainee will be guaranteed an interview at the end of the work placement and for those who have excelled a paid position.
