As a result, alongside several consortium partners; Balfour Beatty have been selected by BP (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK’s first decarbonised industrial cluster.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Scaffolding Coordination Lead to contribute to the Net Zero Teesside project based at our new site in Redcar-in-Cleveland on Teesside.
What you’ll be doing
- Demonstrates leadership and commitment to Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW).
Actively encourages and leads the BBK and contractor teams to implement and comply with Project HSW requirements. - Ensures all relevant HSW requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that, in consultation with site management and HSW team, HSW hazards are
eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicable. - Ensures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with
regard to HSW requirements and satisfy site safe systems of work. - Determines scope and prepares work packs detailing extent of scaffolding [location,
requirements, estimate, quantities] - Interface with planning engineers to plan, schedule, estimate, progress monitor and
closeout scaffold related activities. - Ensures work within their area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the
contract and conform with project time and budget requirements. - Acts as the principal contractor in the coordination of all scaffolding equipment onsite.
- Attends coordination meetings between contractors onsite to ensure scopes are
adequately planned and minimum hindrance to the construction work. - Ensures all scaffolding operations are planned and organised.
- Ensures all scaffold erected is suitable for the proposed use.
- Ensures that scaffold equipment and scaffolding accessories are subject to a periodic thorough examination.
- Assists in the designs and pre-plans the scaffold including weight limitations, scaffold type, fall protection, tie-offs, supports.
- Ensures final inspections are carried out prior to use.
- Monitors scaffold alterations and modification keeping records.
- Manages timely/prompt off hiring and dismantling.
- Ensure project documentation and files are maintained in line with company
procedures. - Report slippages against project baseline and advise potential impact on project
critical activities. - Collate and disseminate data required for weekly/monthly reporting.
- Oversee subcontractors reporting, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress; providing direct instruction and support as necessary such that contractual arrangements are achieved.
Who we’re looking for
- Deliver an integrated and cost-effective scaffolding service to the business ensuring
work packages are completed on time and within budget. - Drive the execution of scaffold activities.
- Drive contractor accountability, productivity and identify/eliminate issues.
- Coordinate with area construction engineers ensuring construction scaffold priorities are identified and achieved.
- Support work pack development and constructability reviews.
- Carry out quality inspections, review of actual costs vs estimated costs to ensure all works are aligned with job requirements and represent value for money.
- Influence scaffold contractors [by mentoring, coaching, training] to deliver the
required scopes to safety and quality requirements. - Ability to communicate effectively at all levels [and in particular with internal, client
and sub-contractor teams].
