Specialist Study Skills Tutor (SpLD)  


Hartlepool with some travel to Middlesbrough

35 hours

Term Time Only – 40 weeks

Annual Salary – £28,230 – £34,107 (based on increments)


The role of the Specialist Study Skills Tutor is to work with students on a one to one basis delivering literacy support in the areas of spelling, punctuation and grammar, alongside developing students’ academic skills such as research techniques, planning and organisation. The role will involve assessment of the student’s individual needs and planning an appropriate programme of delivery to develop strategies to support achievement and progression, addressing a wide range of issues (e.g. organisational, acquiring, recalling and retaining information) that students may face within a higher education context. The Tutor will work with students from across all courses who have been identified as requiring support through DSA.


Working as part of the Student Services Team you will be part of the student support offer we pride ourselves on but also have the opportunity to develop and enhance this element of the team. It is essential that the successful candidate has a minimum Level 5 qualification in additional support issues.
