An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 staff nurse to come and work on one of our two respiratory wards, which have both recently undergone a 2.5million refurbishment. Both respiratory wards have dedicated respiratory support units where our level 2 patients are cared for with state of the art technology, continuous monitoring and 360degree patient visibility.

Both respiratory wards care for many respiratory disciplines such as COPD, asthma, pulmonary fibrosis, bronchiectasis, lung cancer, covid pneumonitis, intensive care step down patients and level 2 patients.

Successful candidates will have a variety of opportunities whilst working on the ward to upskill their knowledge in management of NIV, CPAP, high flow nasal oxygen, chest drain management, OSCE learning in obtaining and interpretation of arterial blood gases and capillary blood gases.

Main duties of the job

Newly qualified nurses will be enrolled onto a preceptorship programme and remain supernumerary on the ward area until you and your manager are comfortable that you meet your competencies. You will work on a ward which is managed by a Ward Matron and a Deputy Ward Matron alongside a wider range of experienced nurses. You will be allocated a mentor/Buddy who you will shadow within your first stages of undertaking the role, you will receive an annual individual performance review to help facilitate your development. We support staff with post registration courses relevant to their field of practice at our local teaching university.
