Job Description
To provide technical support to the School’s activities, including assistance to academic staff, students and other individuals in the use of technical equipment, laboratories, studios, workshops and materials.
The role requires the candidates to have:-
HND or equivalent in an appropriate discipline, or a proven period of appropriate practical experience.
Experience of developing, installing, maintaining and operating specialist technical equipment
Experience, knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues and their implementation in the working environment
Experience of techniques and processes relevant to the specialist area such as but not exclusively
Sample and solution preparation, Safe storage and disposal of substances, COSHH and Risk assessment.
Knowledge or experience of scientific instrumentation such as UV/Visible Spectrophotometry, Microscopy, Electrophoresis
Proven IT skills including experience of Microsoft applications, i.e. Excel, Word databases
Knowledge and experience of specialist scientific software applications.
