Post: Police Trainer

Salary: Scale 6 / SO 1 – £30,783 – £35,982

Hours: 37 Hours per week

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Learning and Development Centre, Grangetown

 

Applications are invited for the post of Police Trainer within People and Development based at the Cleveland Police Learning and Development Centre, Grangetown.

 

Applicants will work as part of the Initial Learning programme delivery team. Successful candidates will predominantly deliver and facilitate the initial learning programmes for student Police Officers, Special Constables and Police Community Support Officers, however they may also be required to assist in the delivery of other training programmes on occasions according to Force needs; working between training programmes when necessary.

 

The core functions of the role are;

 

  • Assisting in the delivery of complex and extensive learning and development programmes requiring a full range of teaching skills;

 

  • To develop learning and development programmes or sessions to support the delivery of the Forces Policing Priorities; meeting the needs of specific groups of learners and ensuring national and local professional standards are met;

 

  • Ensure Continuous Professional Development is regularly updated to maintain knowledge and understanding of the College of Policing standards, as well as other relevant national standards of accreditation.

 

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their competence in the Trainer role in line with the sector standards and their current professional knowledge and understanding of initial police learning and development.

 

In order to fulfil the role, candidates must be able to demonstrate that they can identify both organisation and individual learning or development needs; plan, prepare and deliver learning and development programmes; facilitate and manage group or individual learning and development and maintain standards of professional practice.

 

Candidates must be able to work in an agile manner responding to the often rapidly changing needs of the organisation.

 

Candidates who do not hold a CertEd or equivalent qualification, but are willing to work towards and attain whilst in post, are welcome to apply.
