What you will do in your working day

  • To assist the daily routine of the care home
  • To assist residents in all aspects of their personal care
  • To assist in activities
  • To maintain good levels of housekeeping
  • To maintain good levels of hygiene
  • To assist residents with their mobility needs

  • To assist residents during mealtimes, this may include serving meals or supporting the individual to eat and drink

The training you will be getting

You will complete the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Care
  • Functional Skills in maths and English (Dependant on GCSE grades)
  • Care Certificate

Drop-in training sessions will be take place weekly at Darlington Borough Council Learning & Skills training centre (DL1 5AJ).  Here you will develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours to ensure these exceed the minimum requirements for the Adult Care Worker Level 2 apprenticeship standards.

Things to consider

You will may be required to attend Learning & Skills training centre in Darlington (DL1 5AJ) and you may need to make your own way there for training. Travel to and from the employer, based at 57-61 Stanhope Road, Darlington (DL3 7AP). This is a professional environment whereby you will be expected to adhere to those duties outlined in your job description. Shift working of 12 hour shifts, weekend and bank holiday working required.

MOORLANDS is a family run business offering a full range of services for older people in Darlington and the surrounding area. As well as a nineteen bed care home we provide day care services, a full range of domiciliary services, an old fashioned meals on wheels service and a laundry service. The business is run by Michelle and David Smith with son Greg now also helping out. Our philosophy has always been to provide a professional, competent service with the emphasis on caring family values.
